A total of 186 people were killed and 746 others injured in accidents across the country while travelling during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. Disclosing these figures in a report, the Secretary General of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity (Bangladesh Passengers’ Welfare Association) Mojammel Huq Choudhury told reporters at a news briefing at the National Press Club yesterday that the accidents included all modes of transports on the roads, railways and waterways. Despite a long Eid holiday providing some relief to the passengers, accidents on the roads have increased this year, he claimed. From the beginning of the Eid holidays on July 1 and on the return to workplaces till July 12, a total of 186 people were killed and 746 injured in 121 road and 3 river accidents, Choudhury said.
