1.20 crore meters current net seized in Munshiganj

MUNSHIGANJ: A mobile court comprising Fisheries Department, RAB and police, seized 1.20 crore meters of banned current net from a factory in Gopalnagar village under sadar upazila of the district on Wednesday, reports BSS. Acting on a tip-off, the court, led by Executive Magistrate Asif Anam Siddique, conducted a drive to ‘MNS Fishing Net’ factory and seized the banned current nets. The court also finned Taka 20,000 to factory manager Monir Hossain during the drive for producing banned current nets. The value of the seized current nets is about Taka 60 lakh, the court sources said. Later, the seized nets were burnt on the bank of Dhaleshwari river in presence of officials concerned.
