2 ‘robbers’ killed in gunfight with rivals in Cox’s Bazar

‘Robber’ beaten dead by mob in Dinajpur

Three suspected robbers were killed in separate incidents in Cox’s Bazar and Dinajpur yesterday, reports UNB.
In Cox’s Bazar: Two suspected robbers were killed in a gunfight with their rivals in Hinla no 14 Bridge area of Teknaf upazila early yesterday.
Identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately.
Abdul Majid, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station, said a gunfight took place between two robber gangs—‘Abdul Hakim Bahini’ led by Abdul Hakim and ‘Shiailla Bahini’ led by Nurul Hakim alias Shialla around 2.00 am.
Being informed, police recovered the bodies and two guns and three rounds of bullets from the spot.
Later police sent the bodies to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.
‘Abdul Hakim Bahini’ usually commits robbery in the hilly areas and police found its involvement in the Ansar camp attack that left an Ansar member dead in Teknaf upazila on May 12, said police.
In Dinajpur, an alleged robber was beaten to death and another injured in a lynch-mob attack foiling a robbery bid at Kamarpara village in Chiriribandar upazila early yesterday.
Quoting locals, police said a gang of robbers numbering 10/12 entered the village in the dead of night targeting to commit robbery.
Sensing their attempt, local people chased them off and managed to catch two of them while the others fled.
Later, the mob gave the robbers a severe beating, leaving one named Azizur Rahman alias Kala Aziz dead on the spot and another injured.
The injured robber was taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.
On information, police rushed in and recovered the body of Aziz.
Aziz was wanted in several cases, said police.
