e-GP growth doubles in a year

Both the value and volume of tenders invited through electronic government procurement (e-GP) system in Bangladesh doubled in the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2016.
The data show that the number of tenders invited in e-GP up to June 2015 was 26102. It jumped to 57936 on June 30, 2016. The value of tenders invited in the previous fiscal year was TK 20352 crore while it rose to TK 48366 crore at the end of the immediate-past fiscal year of 2015-16.
The number of tenderers registered with the e-GP system also marked a sharp rise during the period. During the 2015-16 fiscal their number in e-GP stood at 22183 while it was 15559 in the 2014-15.
The government has decided to connect all 1233 procuring agencies having a total of about 25000 procuring entities to e-GP by December 2016. The CPTU is going to install a wider capacity data centre to accommodate all the entities in e-GP to fully digitize public procurement in the country.
Until June 30, 2016, a total of 282 agencies having 2477 procuring entities have been connected to e-GP. The number of total users of the system has stood at 38,207. A total of 41 banks having more than 2000 branches have signed MoUs with CPTU to facilitate payments under e-GP.
