Woman hacked to death
A woman was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified assailants in Ershadnagar area of Tongi in Gazipur city early yesterday.
The victim was identified as Nargis Begum, 45, daughter of late Ibrahim Miah of Joyerchar area under Gafargaon upazila in Mymensing district. Sub-inspector of Tongi model police station Moniruzzaman said Nargis was a seasonal vegetable trader in the area and lived at a rental house, owned by one Kamal Miah in the area.
She went to bed along with her 10-year-old daughter on Wednesday night. A group of assailants entered her room around 1.30 am on Thursday and hacked her with sharp weapons and left the place quickly. On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Gazipur Shahid Taz Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. However, police yet to traced any miscreant who involved in the killing.    

Four held with firearms
Police arrested four suspected militants and recovered one shutter gun, three rounds of bullets, one empty cartridge, and some jehadi books from their possessions at Koyra Upazila in the early hours on Wednesday.
The arrested were identified as Alamgir Hossain alias Zubaer, 28, son of Ansar Sheikh, residence of Hasanpur Mailboga village, under Keshobpur upazila of Jessore, Razib Gazi alias Rakib, 23, son of Razzak Gazi ,residence of Mikshimil village under Dumuria upazila, Foysal alias Al Amin, 24, son of Mahfuzul Haque, residence of Khatuakhali village under Paikgachha upazila and Tanveer Sarder, son of Rahmat Sarder of the same village of Khulna.
Officer-in-Charge of Koyra Police Station Sheikh Shamsher Ali said that on secret information, police raided at the residence of Edris Miah at Karikar Para village of Koyra Upazila early hours today and arrested them while they were planned to commit anti-state activities in Khulna.
 

One held with phensedyl
Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested an alleged drug trader from Gorachand Das Road of Barisal city yesterday night recovered 810 bottles of phensydil.
Md Farhad Sardar, assistant commissioner of DB police of BMP, said acting in a tip off, a team of DB police raid the area yesterday evening. At one stage police able to arrested the drug trader Md Shah Alam from a house of the area and recovered the drugs from his house.
Police filed a case in this connection with Kotwali model police station. The arrested was sent to the jail after producing before the court.

Missing teacher found dead
Police recovered the body of a missing teacher from Surma River on Wednesday evening.
The deceased Hider Ali, a teacher of polytechnic institute on the civil department in the city, went missing on Tuesday morning when he fall from a boat in the Surma river. Local and police source said the teacher was crossing the river by a boat for going to his workplace from home. Suddenly he fall from the boat and went missing, he added. Locals spotted the floating body in the river on Wednesday evening and informed police.
