1 killed in Magura road crash
Magura: One person was killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and a bus at Chhoyghoria on the Magura-Jessore Highway in Shalikha upazila on Tuesday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Minhazul Islam, 35, an employee of private mobile phone operator Banglalink. Officer-in-charge of Shalikha Police Station Manirul Islam said the accident took place when a microbus and a passenger-loaded bus collided head-on at Chhoyghoria around 8am, leaving microbus passenger Minhazul dead on the spot and four other people injured.

Smuggled cattle sold at auction
BENAPOLE: The Benapole customs authority has sold 49 smuggled Indian cattle, seized by the BGB recently, at an auction held here on Tuesday, reports UNB.
The seized cattle were sold at Taka 18.33 lakh at the auction. Subeder Gias Uddin of BGB Benapole camp said based on secret information, the BGB personnel raided the frontier areas of Benapole and Sarsa upazila on Sunday and Monday and seized the cattle. However, the smugglers managed to flee the scene, sensing the presence of the BGB men. The seized smuggled cattle were handed over to Benapole Customs yesterday, the BGB sources said.

Rab seizes drugs along with peddler
FARIDPUR: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-8 of Faridpur seized yaba tablets and arrested one person in this connection last night from Bhanga upazilla of the district, reports BSS.
According to RAB sources, acting on a tip off, a group of the elite force led by ASP Hafizul Islam reached Mansurabad bus stand on Dhaka -Khulna highway for arresting one drug peddler. As soon as they reached the spot a young man tried to flee riding a motor -bike. But ultimately he was caught with the help of local people.
After searching the body of the youth identified as Md. Abdul Baki Mia, RAB recovered 250 yaba tablets from his possession. He confessed to RAB thatr he is a drug peddler. Baki Mia is the son of Abdus Sattar Mia of Sreerampatti under Nagarkanda upazilla. RAB sent him to police of Bhanga along with seized yaba and his motor-bike for legal action.

Missing farmer’s body recovered
RANGPUR: Police recovered the body of a missing farmer from a bamboo cluster in village Radhaballovpur under Kaphrikhal union of Mithapukur upazila in the district yesterday noon, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Shafikul Islam, 46, son of late Nawab Ali of the same village.
Quoting family sources, Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) of Mithapukur Thana Mohinul Islam said Shafikul went out of his house on July 11 last and did not return home.
Local people found dead body of Shafikul and informed the matter to Mithapukur Thana Police this morning. Police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it conducting autopsy to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) morgue.
Police primarily suspects that some miscreants might have killed Shafikul and left his body in the bamboo cluster.
An unnatural death (UD) case has been filed in this connection with Mithapukur Thana.

Construction of police barrack completed
CHUADANGA: Construction of the fourth floor of the existing police barrack in Chuadanga police line has been
completed at a cost of Taka one crore 64 lakh and 42 thousand, reports BSS.
Public Works Department with financial assistance of the Ministry of Home under its annual development programme 2015-2016 fiscal has constructed the fourth floor of existing barrack. With the completion of the construction work of the the barrack the accommodation problem of police force of local police line has been solved to a great extent, Chuadanga district police source said.
