Female Jamaat leader held in Tangail

Police arrested a female Jamaat leader and her son from Mirzapur upazila of the district on Tuesday.
Mohammad Moyen Uddin, officer-in-charge of Mirzapur Police Station, said police held Humayara Begum, 38, Mirzapur upazila unit chief of Jamaat women wing, and her son Nazmus Sakib, 18, president of Gorai union unit Islami Chhatra Shibir, after conducting raid at Humayara’s house in North Nazirabad area in the morning. The law enforcers also recovered jihadi books, leaflets and other documents from the house.
The arrestees were conducting anti-government activities from the house, said the OC. A case was filed against them under the Special Powers Act, he added.
