The government has cancelled plots allocated to war criminals during the tenure of the BNP-Jamaat led government, housing and public works minister Mosharraf Hossain said yesterday.
“All RAJUK plots that were allocated to war criminals have been cancelled. Some war criminals—I won't name them— have given their plots to developers. Developers are innocent. So, they will enjoy their portion and the war criminal’s share will be taken by the government,” the minister told reporters after a signing ceremony between RAJUK and Standard Chartered Bank on introduction of loan with lower interest rates at the Secretariat.War criminals Motiur Rahman Nizami was hanged on May 5 and Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujaheed on November 22 last year. According to ministry sources, Nizami and Mujaheed had RAJUK plots.
However, RAJUK sources said they have no information regarding cancellation of plots allocated to the war criminals.
When the minister was asked why the names of war criminals who got RAJUK plots were not being disclosed, Mosharraf Hossain said: “There are many war criminals who have got plots.
