The Editors’ Council yesterday said that a combined effort was needed to fight the crisis, which has emerged in the country after the recently militant attack on Hoely Artisan Café in the capital’s Gulshan.
The meeting of the Editors’ Council was held at the office of a daily in the capital with Golam Sarwar, the council’s president and the editor of the Daily Samakal, in the chair.
During the meeting, the council observed with great concern that a certain commu-nal and reactionary quarter was active in Bangladesh to stain its image in the outside world. Its main goal is to tarnish Bangladesh’s image through violence and killings, the Council members stated.
The Council urged everyone to be united against that evil force. To fight such an evil force, family and social awareness should be increased along with strengthening the capacity of the law enforcement personnel, the Council observed.
