3 cops among four sued in Jamalpur

Four people, including three policemen, were sued in connection with the killing of retired army man and freedom fighter Abdul Bari in Jamalpur.
Sub-inspector of Jamalpur Railway Police Station Kawsar Ahmed said Mizanur Rahman Mukul, elder son of the slain freedom fighter, filed the case with the police station at around 9 pm on Tuesday.
The accused are Officer-in-Charge of Jamalpur Railway Police Station Gaura Chandra Majumdar, constable Tapan Barua, Assistant Sub-inspector Sohrab Ali nd ticket collector of Jamalpur Railway Station Anisur Rahman.
On Monday, Abdul Bari, 65, a retired army man and a resident of Hatchandra village in Jamalpur Sadar upazila, was killed as he was allegedly beaten and hit by members of railway police at the railway station. Jamalpur Railway Station­master Mohammad Tarek and OC Gaura Chandra were withdrawn from their duties after the incident.
Later, Jamalpur Freedom Fighters’ Forum announced to observe a two-day protest programme demanding punishment of the killers.
