Food Minister Advocate Kamrul Islam yesterday stressed the need for creating mass awareness over safe food for implementing the Food Safety Act, 2013.
He said the act was formulated to ensure safe food for all as food safety is a constitutional right.
“Eighteen ministries have been working to ensure supply of pure and safe food across the country like other countries, including USA, India and Sri Lanka,” the food minister said while addressing a workshop on ‘Safe Food: Social Movement to Prevent Contaminated Food and Pollution’ at BIAM auditorium in the city.
The Bangladesh Food Safety Authority and Dhaka Divisional office jointly organised the workshop.
Chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority Mostak Hasan Md Iftekhar said it is possible to supply safe food from food producing field to dinning table through implementing Food Safety Act 2013.
