The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to file a case against an assistant engineer of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) on charge of accumulating illegal wealth, reports UNB.
The Commission at its regular meeting on Wednesday decided to file the case against Engineer Md Saifur Rahman, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB. Earlier, the national anti-graft agency received an allegation that Saifur acquired unusual wealth through illegal means. Considering theallegation, the Commission launched a probe against him and asked him to submit his wealth report before it.
Responding to the ACC's directive, he submitted his wealth statement to the Commission on May 18 last.
Examining the wealth statement during its probe, the Commission foundthat the CCC engineer acquired illegal wealth worth Tk 35 lakh. Pranab said the ACC deputy director Hamidul Hasan will soon file the case against Saifur under the Anti Corruption Commission Act 2004.
