Popular theatre troupe Bahubachan will stage the 105th show of its acclaimed-production ‘Devi’, an adaptation of a novel with the same title by Humayun Ahmed, today at 7:30pm at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital. The play, 22nd production of the troupe, is directed by Arham Alo and dramatised by Iqbal Hossain. Through depiction of a number of supernatural incidents, the play zooms in on an interesting theme- contradiction between the conscious and the subconscious mind of human. The plot of the play revolves around Ranu, a young woman, and Misir Ali, one of the most widely found fictional characters of Humayun Ahmed. Psychologist Misir Ali explains his patient Ranu’s belief of the existence of a ‘goddess’ within herself as a hallucination. However, a few incidents such as the rescue of a girl named Nilu from her abductor Ahmed Baset cannot be explained with any scientific theory. The probable cast of the play includes Dipa, Rina, Tomal, Mohiuddin Selim and Arham Alo, among others. Besides, Ashok Mukharjee is in light design, while Arham Alo is in set design.
Tickets will be available in front of the hall from 3pm.
