Afridi wants to join politics

MUMBAI: Former Pakistan T20I skipper Shahid Afridi talks like he bats. His words are either beyond the fence or misunderstood. After two decades of international cricket, the 36-year-old, fondly called ‘Boom Boom’, wants to join politics, reports Deccan Chronicle.
The all-rounder – who often announced retirements only to make a comeback – believes politics will help him serve people.
On the sidelines, he would also carry on with his charity work.
“I wish to enter politics, however, some well-wishers have advised me against it. In my eyes, a politician is a servant of the people and he should serve people,” he told BBC Urdu.
The cricketer is aware that he even without politics, he can serve his people through his social work. Hence, he is also keen to establish a school for the underprivileged children under the name ‘Shahid Afridi Foundation’.
