Factory catches fire
A fire broke out at a paint factory in Bahadurpur area of Gazipur city on Tuesday morning. An official of the factory was injured during the fire incident.
Station officer of Joydebpur fire station Mohammed Hasibul Islam said the fire originated from a furnace oil heater of burner room of Asian paint industry in Bahadurpur area under Gazipur city on Tuesday morning and engulfed the neighbouring areas of the factory.
The employees of the factory tried to douse the flame after the incident. On information, a fire fighting unit from Joydebpur fire station rushed to the spot and doused the fire after half an hour.
Case filed over BCL man killing
A case was filed accusing five identified and 20/25 unidentified people with airport police station including prime accused local Awami League leader Sulthan Ahmed Sunny in connection with the BCL leader killing in Patantula area in Sylhet city on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier a Bangladesh Chhatra League( BCL) activists was hacked to death by his house owner in Patantula area in the city on Sunday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Abdullah Anthar, 32, hailed from Rajshahi district.
Abdullah used to live in ‘Nehar Monjil’ in the area along with his family. Victim’s friend Ali said, Abdullah was hacked to death by Sunny, a owner of the Nehar Monjil for the previous enmity.
Biker killed in road crash
A motorcyclist was killed as his bike hit by a speedy truck in Katakhal area on Sylhet-Companiganj road of the district on Monday.
The victim was identified as Babar Ali, 38, an official of a non-governmental organisation.
Police said the accident happened when a speedy goods-laden Sylhet bound truck rammed the motorbike from behind killing Ali on the spot.
Police retrieved the dead body from the spot and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
BSTI fines shops Tk 13 lakh
Regional office of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution (BSTI) fined Taka 13.41 lakh and realised the fined money from 56 shop owners in Rajshahi in June last, a BSTI press release here says yesterday.
BSTI in association with respective district administration conducted 43 mobile courts and found the shops guilty of manufacturing, possessing and selling of substandard and unhygienic food items together with violation of BSTI rules and regulations.
Mourtoza Hossain Shah, Director of BSTI, said the regional office has expedited drives against the manufacturing of substandard and adulterated foods. Such drives will continue during the days ahead for the public interests.
