CU student arrested on rape charge

Police early yesterday arrested a Chittagong University (CU) student on charge of raping a six grade student.
The arrestee was identified as Md Mizanur Rahman, 22, son of Abdul Motaleb hailing from Patiya of Chittagong, a final year student of psychology Department of CU.
Getting complaint from the mother of the victim police nabbed him on early Monday and he was produced before the court on Monday.
“The accused forcibly raped the victim confined in class room of a local school on Sunday noon to evening. Rahman’s mother is a school teacher. So, the victim used to go to their home and they were acquainted previously.  At evening the accused dropped the victim in a home of her friend,” said Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bayezid police station.
 “In the mealtime, the victim’s mother was looking for her daughter and gleaning the incident for her lodged a complaint with the police station on Sunday night,” added the OC.
