State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki yesterday urged the meritorious students to join politics to serve the nation.

Bangladesh Medha Bikash Society organised the discussion on ‘Role of Meritorious People in Building a Developed Nation’.
Following the discussion, a reception was accorded to students who got GPA-5 in SSC and Dakhil examinations this year. The state minister awarded the meritorious students with crests.
She appreciated the students for their success in examinations despite political adversities and advised them to continue studies to keep up their good results.

“We have got an independent country because of the pragmatic politics of Bangabandhu,” she added.
She hoped that the meritorious students would work with honesty and sincerity in future to build a golden Bangladesh as dreamt by Bangabandhu and 30 lakh martyrs.
The state minister highlighted various government programmes aimed at developing a meritorious nation and condemned destructive political programmes affecting academic activities and creating anarchy in the country.
