Comilla: A night guard was hacked to death by a gang of unidentified miscreants inside a brickfield at Shambakshi in Sadar Dakshin upazila on Friday night, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Bashar, 30, son of late Siddiq Miah, a resident of Ballabhpur village in the same upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Dakshin Police Station Prashanta Paul said Bashar used to work as a night guard at Islamia Brick Field.
On Friday night, he went to his workplace and hours later a gang of miscreants broke into the brickfield’s office room and looted a computer, a television set and some amount of cash, police said.
As Bashar attempted to resist them, the hoodlums hacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.
Yesterday morning, Liton Chandra Dash, manager of the brickfield, spotted the body lying inside the brickfield and informed police.
Later, police came to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to hospital for an autopsy.
