More than forty-five thousand people of twelve thousand families celebrated Eid ul Fitr on Wednesday in accordance with Saudi Arabia.
They are the residents of different areas under Barisal City Corporation, Kedarpur, Madhavpasha, Talukdar Char, Nishan Baria, Haji Banshkati of Babuganj, Sundarkati of Bakerganj, and Harinafulia of Sadar upazila of Barisal, Galachipa, Baufal, Kalapara and Sadar upazila of Patuakhali, Charfesson upazila of Bhola, Taltali of Barguna and Nalchhity upazila of Jhalakathi district.
They also offered Eid ul Fitr Jamaats (congregational prayer gatherings) in 80 places including metropolitan city and Sadar upazila area and others places in 8 upazilas under Barisal, Bhola, Jhalakathi, Barguna, and Patuakhali districts.
In Barisal city one of the main Eid Jamaat was held at Tajkathi Jahangiria Shah Sufi Mamatzia Jame Masjid led by Mawlana Delwar Hossain at 9am.
Besides other big Eid congregation in the city was also held on Wednesday morning at Harinafulia Chowdhuri Bari Shah Sufi Mamtazia Jame Masjid under ward 26, Zia Sarak Shah Sufi Mamtazia Jame Masjid under ward 22 of BCC.
Followers of this sect claimed that they are the followers of Kaderia, Jahangiria and Chistia Tarika and Pir of Elahabad Sufia Darbarsharif at Kanchan Nagar and Pir Shaheb of Mariachi Darbar Sharif of Satkania under Chittagong district.
Abdur Rashid, one of the followers of this sect, said they usually observe all religious festivals and worshiping customs according to the calendar and systems of Saudi Arabia.
Golam Mir Md. Fazlul Huq, a local leader of the community, said they started Ramadan fasting and observed Eid ul Fitr, usually one day before the other sects, following the direction of their Pir Shaheb of Mariachi Darbar Sharif of Satkania under Chittagong district.
