Eid celebrated amid 
enthusiasm in cities

RAJSHAHI: The holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, was celebrated in Rajshahi city with due fervour, joy, enthusiasm, gaiety and solemnity, reports BSS.
In the Eid Day on Thursday morning, streams of people rushed to the nearest eidgahs, mosques and open places to offer their Eid prayers braving the inclement weather. Thousands of musallis at the end of Eid jamaats (congregations) offered special munajats seeking divine blessings and eternal peace of departed souls particularly their near and dear ones, continued peace, progress, and prosperity of the country as well as greater welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
The main Eid jamaat was held at Hazrat Shah Mukhdum ® Central Eidgah Moidan at 8 am and Muhtamim of Jameya Islamia Shahmukhdum Maulana Shahadat Ali led the prayer. The second and third largest ones were held at Shaheb Bazar Zero Point and Tikapara Eidgah at the same time.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, senior divisional and district level officials and local elites including Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin offered their Eid prayers at the main Eid jamaat.
Besides, some other big Eid jamaats in the city were held at Hatemkha, Stadium Ground, Shalbagan, Alif Lam Meem Bhata Eidgah, Police Line Parade Ground, Tikapara Eidgah, Mohisbathan Eidgah math, Upashahar Eidgah Moidan, RUET campus and Rajshahi University campus.
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) decorated the city’s important points and road islands with national and colourful flags inscribed with “Eid Mubarak” both in Bangla and Arabic. In addition to the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, the district, upazila and police administrations took adequate security measures to celebrate the festival in a peaceful way. Improved diets were served to the inmates of different hospitals, jails, Shishu Paribars, orphanages and vagrant welfare centres in all districts on the occasion.
Thousands of people, especially children, poured in and around the city’s parks, historic places and other recreation centres including the bank of the River Padma to enjoy the Eid-ul-Fitr. Zia Shishu Park, Captain Monsur Ali Park and Central Park and Zoo drew huge crowd. Children, young boys and girls wearing colourful dresses gathered these places where small makeshift shops were set up to sell different homemade foods and toys. Eid gatherings of children and cultural functions were also held at different areas in the city.
Another report adds from Rangpur: Holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the greatest religious festival of the Muslims, was celebrated befittingly amid tight security measures and with huge enthusiasm, festivity and solemnity on Thursday. The district, upazila and police administrations adopted comprehensive security measures for holding the Eid jamats peacefully in the city as well as everywhere in the district.
The national flag was hoisted atop all government and private buildings and major mosques, eidgahs, streets and major buildings were illuminated and decorated with colourful flags, banners, miniatures and festoons. Improved diets were served to the inmates of different hospitals, Rangpur Central Jail, shishu paribars, orphanages and vagabond welfare centres on the Eid day.
Rangpur City Corporation with assistance of the concerned authorities arranged 131 Eid jamaats in all 33 wards of the city.
The main Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat was held at the Central Collectorate Eidgah in the city at 8.30 am with participations of the government high officials, political leaders and dignitaries of the city.  Over 30,000 musollis participated in the main Eid jamat where the concerned authorities set up 17 close circuit cameras along with deployment of adequate members of the law enforcement agencies.
City Mayor Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University Professor Dr AKM Nurun Nabi, Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hassan Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar, political leaders, dignitaries of the city, public representatives and professionals participated in the main Eid jamat.
Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Khondker Golam Faruk, Police Super Abdur Razzaque and high police officials took part in the first Eid-ul-Fitr jamat held at Police Lines School & College ground at 7:45 am.
The biggest Eid-ul-Fitr jamat of the district was held on Taluk Habu Eidgah Maidan under Gangachara upazila where State Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Alhaj Mashiur Rahman Ranga participated.
The bigger Eid Jamats were held at Munshipara Eidgah, Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque, Mandalpara Baro Eidgah, Damodarpur Baro Maidan, Kamal Kachhna Baro Jam-e-Mosque, Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Mahiganj Shahi Jam-e-Mosque and Aftabia Eidgah in the city between 8 am and 9 am.
Outside the city, bigger Eid jamats were held at Badarganj Central Eidgah, Badarganj Chandamari Keramotia Jam-e Mosque, Pirgachha Karbala Eidgah, Pirgachha Ahle Hadith Mosque, Kawnia Central Eidgah, Mithapukur Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah and Pirganj Central Eidgah between 8.30 am and 10.30 am.
