The participants of the 2016 ASEAN News Officials and Reporters Seminar visited Yunnan Daily Press Group (YDPG) a few days ago.
The collected news officials and reporters were from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines and the ASEAN Centre for Energy. This year’s seminar, organised by the China International Publishing Group Training Centre, was designed to deepen exchanges and communication between Yunnan and ASEAN-based media outlets, while also providing participants with an opportunity to better understand Yunnan’s media and social development.
Hasan Mohammad Imrul, from Bangladesh’s RTV, described Yunnan as the first-choice destination for Bangladeshi tourists, and expressed the hope that the YDPG will launch a Bengali-language magazine in the near future so that more Bengali people can learn about Yunnan. Mishra Babita, from the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of Nepal, consulted the YDPG on the media industry’s development strategy and vowed to take the YDPG’s experience back to Nepal. Soe Thu Ya, an official from the Myanmar Ministry of Information exchanged thoughts with YDPG representatives on the selection of report angles, hoping that media can play a positive role in non-governmental diplomacy between the two countries.
