A man allegedly hacked his wife and son to death over a family feud at Dakkhin Joydebpur village in Sadar upazila early yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Bakul Ara Parveen, 24, and her 4-year-old son Sayeed Al Niloy of Dakkhin Joydevpur village.
Police arrested the alleged killer Sohrab Hossain Bhuttu, 34, from the village early yesterday, said Redwanur Rahim, officer-in-charge of Dinajpur Sadar Police Station,
Police and local people said Bhuttu, of Dakhkhin Joydebpur village, married Bakul, daughter of Akkas Ali, of the same village five years ago.
An altercation ensued between the couple at around 12.30am after Bhutto, who was a drug addict, returned home taking drugs.
At one stage, Bhutto hacked his wife to death with sharp weapons and later, killed his son in the same way.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.
