Buyers not worried rather shocked

The heinous killing at Gulshan's Artisan restaurant could not breach the buyers' onfidence to Bangladesh, rather it has made them shocked, said President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Md Siddiqur Rahman yesterday.
"I have talked with buyers and they told me that they are not worried, but they became shocked from the hostage and brutal killings," he told journalists at a press briefing at BGMEA auditorium that organised to describe the overall scenarios of RMG sector ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Rahman said buyers have already assured him that they would not cut order following the terrorist attack.
The barbaric terrorist attack on a cafe in the capital's posh Gulshan area took place on last Friday, which left 28 people dead, including 20 hostages, most of whom were foreign nationals.
The BGMEA president said slain Italian nationals were RMG buyers and most of whom had been living in Bangladesh since long while father of the killed Indian citizen has also RMG business here.
Replying to a query, Rahman, however, said "There would be after effect, but time is yet to come to pass any comment on it." He hoped the government would take necessary measures so "such type of heinous attack is never repeated in Bangladesh."
Turing on the present scenario of RMG sector ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr, the BGMEA president claimed 99.95 per cent factories have paid Eid bonus to their labourers while most of the factories have given salaries for the month of June.
Besides, he said, 2/3 factories would clear the salaries yesterday so "there would be not pending salary for the month of June."
Rahman expressed his gratitude to the government for the decision of keeping the customs houses, banks and other offices open in export oriented areas after Eid and next two days during the nine-day vacation to keep the export-import activities.
