Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haq has issued an order for taking legal actions against those members of police involved in crimes like Yaba peddling and human trafficking, reports UNB.
The IGP issued the order through a message sent to the chiefs of all police units in this regard, sources at the Police headquarters said.
According to the message, AKM Shahidul Haq instructed the heads of all police units to take to the task the police members involved in illegal drug trading, including Yaba trading, or human trafficking. The IGP said the police department will never give shelter to offender. “We never tolerate it. Rather, we consider our any member involved in crimes as an offender,” he said.
Meanwhile, two separate inquiry committees have already been formed by the police headquarters in this regard.
One inquiry committee, headed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Saiful Haque, was formed to investigate the allegations against suspended ASI of Special Branch and his associates in connection with the recovery of 6.8 lakh pieces of contraband Yaba tablets worth around Tk 27 crore from their possession at Lalpole in Feni on June 21.
The committee was asked to submit its report within 10 working days.
Besides, the police headquarters also formed another committee, headed by Additional DIG of SB Toufiq Mahbub to investigate against police members involved in crimes like human trafficking, illegal drug trading as well as other sensational incidents.
