Eid shopping fever grips Khulna

KHULNA:  With only two days left for the holy Eid-Ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religions festivals of the Muslims, Khulna city has been caught by Eid shopping fever with modern and traditional shopping malls bustling with shoppers from all strata, reports BSS. In Khulna city, thousands of people are seen purchasing items of their own choice with huge enthusiasm. Most of the low middle and low income group are waiting to buy their dresses on Chand Night (Last night of Ramadan). It is a tradition that the people of Khulna buy the new dresses for Eid on Chand Night.
Meanwhile, some of the shopping centers and markets have already declared discounts, Eid sale festival, coupons to attract the customers in the industrial city.
While visiting the Eid markets yesterday this correspondent found that thousands of people thronged readymade garments shop, sari, shoes and cosmetic shops to buy items for their near and dear ones. Many shop owners of New Market said sales were showing a skyrocket trend since Saturday due to good weather and people especially private and public service holders
have already received Eid bonuses and salary of the month of June.
Market sources said the overall selling is much higher this year because of further improvement in the economic condition of people of all classes.
As Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) have taken tight security during Ramadan and ahead of Eid, businessmen and shoppers highly appreciated the government initiatives for creating favourable atmosphere and said they had been doing good business in a very secured and safe environment.
The volume of transactions is relatively higher this year as the city’s Boro Bazar, Moshiur Rahman Market, Khaja Khanjahan Ali Hawkers Market, Nixon Market, Shaheed Sohrawardy Market, Esha Chamber, Akter Chamber, Malek Chamber, Dawkbangla Super Market, Khulna Shopping Complex, Khan Tower, KDA New Market, Arong, Safe and Save, KDA Avenue Markets and different shopping houses were humming with unusual Eid shopping crowd.
