Jhenaidah: A mobile court here on Saturday sentenced a young man to six months’ imprisonment for his involvement in drug peddling, reports UNB.
The convict was identified as Nikhil Sarker,28, son of late Nirmal Sarker of Bhandaria Para in Shailakupa upazila.
Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shailakupa Police Station, said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive at Taminagar and arrested Nikhil along with 100 grams of hemp in the afternoon.
Later, the drug peddler was produced before the court led by assistant commissioner Sumi Majumder who handed down the punishment.
Another report Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in a drive, detained two drug peddlers with heroin and Yaba tablets from Ekdala Bazar area in Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday, reports BSS.
The arrestees were identified as Sumon Ahmed, 30, and Sohel Hossain, 21, of Natore district.
