CHUADANGA: The cultivation of ropa aus paddy of the current season in all the four upazilas of the district are now near completion, reports BSS.
During this season, the District Agriculture Extension Department (DAE) has fixed up a target to bring 28,100 hectors of land under ropa aus paddy cultivation in all the four upazilas of the district like Chuadanga Sadar, Alamdanga, Damurhuda and Jibannagar.
Of which, 9,500 hectors are being brought under cultivation in Chuadanga Sadar upazila, 4,860 hectors in Alamdanga upazila, 8,540 hectors in Damurhuda upazila and 6,200 hectors in Jibannagar upazila.
So far about 90 per cent of the total targeted land has been brought under cultivation and the rest land is expected to be brought under cultivation during the first week of this month.
A total of 1,20,000 metric tons of ropa aus paddy is expected to be produced in the district according to Chuadanga district agriculture extension department office source.
The DAE has ensured supply of seed fertilizer and insecticides at fair price and bank loans among the ropa aus paddy cultivators of the district during this season with a view to making the ropa aus paddy cultivation program a success and to achieve the cultivation target, the source further said.
