PANCHAGARH: Cultivation of lemon is becoming popular among the farmers in all five upazilas of the district as it has proved more profitable recently, reports BSS.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of 250 bighas of land have been brought under lemon cultivation this year in five upazilas of the district.
Many farmers in the district have become self-reliant and changed their lot through lemon cultivation during the last few years.
Farmers of the district have been cultivating various high yielding variety of lemon commercially.
Hirmbo Chandra, a lemon cultivator of Shahapara village under Debiganj upazila said “I have been getting handsome profit by cultivating lemon on commercial basis for the last several years.”
Another lemon cultivator, Akter Ali of Sabouspara village under Boda upazila said “I have cultivated lemon on 3 bighas of land spending Tk 45,000. I am expecting to earn a net profit of Taka 70,000 from the produce after meeting all expenditures.”
