Bangladesh brought changes in their winning combination first time against India in the dead rubber third match of the three-match ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday.
The home side was forced to have the change when fast bowler Taskin Ahmed got a side strain during the second match.
Taskin has been advised to take rest for a week for his injury. He will be come back ahead of the onset of the next home series against South Africa, which will be kicked off July 5.
At the cost of pacer Taskin Ahmed, off-spinner Arafat Sunny was made his first appearance in the series.
The 20-year-old quickie brought the early breakthrough for Bangladesh in the opening match of the ODI series and finished with 2-21 in six overs. He gave away 24 runs bowling four overs in the second match but remained wicketless. In fact thereafter he could not bowl further as he got a side strain although he took part in team’s practice session ahead of the third ODI on Tuesday.
Bangladesh Cricket Board selectors also tried to keep him injury free in a bid to prolong his career as he was not included for any Test match. However, Taskin recently expressed his desire to grab a spot in the Test squad after the first ODI against India.
The pace sensation created a furore in the cricket world when he scalped five-wicket hauls on his debut as the first Bangladeshi bowler against Asian powerhouse India in 2014 at the same venue.
Taskin conceded 28 runs in eight overs to take five wickets. Recently, his record was on the verge of breaking by Mustafizur Rahman, the new left-arm pace sensation, who also grabbed five-wicket on debut. By his sublime off-cutters, the young pacer finished his figures with 9.2-0-5-50.
The right-handed Taskin has already represented Bangladesh in 14 one day matches and claimed 21 wickets with the best of 5-28
