The governments of Bangladesh and Japan signed an agreement yesterday to set up next-generation meteorological radar system in Dhaka and Rangpur for better disaster management through improving the weather forecasting system, reports UNB.
Japan has agreed to fund JPY 2.88 billion equivalent to BDT 1.8 billion or USD 23 million to implement the project.
Takeshi Matsunaga, Chargés d’ affaires ad interim, the Embassy of Japan and Mohammad Mejbahuddin, Senior Secretary of Economic Relations Division (ERD) signed the agreement, titled ‘The Project for Improvement of Meteorological Radar System in Dhaka and Rangpur’ on behalf of their respective sides.
