Special Taskforce of Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) realised Tk41 crore outstanding bills from public and private levels between June 14 and June 23.
Of the total amount, the outstanding bill for electricity was Tk40 crore while Tk 32 crore for fine for using power illegally.
The taskforce also unearthed five cases of pilfering power during the drive.
The highest outstanding bill was realised from the Department of Public Works.
Besides, the taskforce realised arrears from individuals and industries.
Of them, there were defaulters of seven years.
Chief of the taskforce Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said, “We are conducting the drive against the giant defaulters and those who are stealing electricity. The purpose of the drive is to create awareness and make people law-abiding.”
The taskforce would not only realise fine for using electricity illegally but also take punitive measures by filing criminal cases, he added.
