Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) yesterday sealed off an unathorised diagnosis centre in the capital’s Gulshan and sentenced its owner to one year’s jail.
Talking to The Independent, RAB-2 director Lt Col SM Masud Rana said getting secrete information, a team of RAB-2, led by deputy director Mizanur Rahman, conducted a raid at the United Health Care and Diagnosis Centre at Nadda Bazar in Gulshan area around 1:00pm.
“After conducting a search in the clinic, we saw the environment there very dirty and the chemicals for testing diseases expired,” added Masud Rana.
RAB also arrested the owner of the clinic, identified as Firoz Khan.
During primary interrogation, he admitted that he had not obtained approval from the Health Directorate for running the diagnostic center.
Though there is a sign board of eminent physicians, none of them has chamber in the dialogist centre, said tne RAB- 2 boss.
There was only one health technician and it was detected that Firoz himself signs test reports of different diseases claiming himself to be a physician.
But he could not produce any certificate of his degree, said RAB officials.
He had completed some short paramedical course a few years ago.
Later RAB executive magistrate Md Anisur Rahman sentenced Firoz one year’s jail and fined him Tk 1 lakh.
