One killed in road accident
RAJSHAHI: A rickshaw puller was killed and two others were injured as a private car knocked down his rickshaw at Fire Service intersection in the city yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Manjur Hossain, 50, a resident of Shayer Gacha.
Witnesses said a private car hit the rickshaw of Manjur when he was waiting with his vehicle at Fire Service intersection around 7am, leaving Manjur and two other rickshaw pullers staying beside injured. Later, the trio was rushed to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where on duty doctors declared Manjur dead. Officer-in-charge of Boalia Police Station Shahadat Hossain confirmed the incident.

Lightning kills fisherman
BARISAL: A fisherman was killed by thunderbolt in the Arialkha river of Shaestabad area under Sadar upazila yesyerday morning. The victim was Nasir Bapari, 40, son of Goni Bapari of the same area. Locals said the thunderbolt struck him while he was catching fish on the river. He suffered critical injuries in the incident. Nasir was sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

3 held with counterfeit notes
SYLHET: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)- 9 in a drive arrested three persons and seized counterfeit notes of Tk 10 lakh from Humayun Rashid Chattar area in the city yesterday.
The arrested were Nur Hossain, 45, Emdadullah, 55, and Dipa Rani.
