ULAB gets new treasurer
Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee has been appointed as the treasurer of University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh (ULAB) for a four-year term with effect from June 21, 2015, says a press release.
President Md Abdul Hamid and chancellor of the university approved his appointment as per Private Universities Act, 2010. He joined ULAB on May 2, 2010 as head of Business Administration.
Professor Milan completed his Honours and Masters from Chittagong University in Accounting. Later, he achieved his PhD in Commerce from Kalyani University in India. In 2014, he was awarded ULAB Vice Chancellors Award of Excellence in the category of Teaching and Learning for his tremendous contribution at ULAB. Professor Milan has authored 18 text books and 45 research articles have been published in international Journals in his credit.
Discussion on natl budget held
An open discussion on students thoughts on national budget 2015-16 organised by the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) was held yesterday at the seminar room of the Eastern University, says a press release.
State Minister for Finance MA Mannan was the chief guest of the discussion. Abul Khair Chowdhury, chairman of BoT of EU, was present as the guest of honour and Ahsan Monsur, executive director, Policy Research Institute of Bangladesh Jamaluddin Ahmed, FCA, chairman, Emerging Credit Rating Ltd, were the special guests.
Lawmaker MA Mannan in his speech has indicated many interesting aspects of budget; and said that proposed budget and implementation is not the same thing. The state minister and all of the guests have answered to the various questions raised by the students.
Sharif Nurul Ahkam, dean of Faculty of Business Administration the convener of the programme, said that EU organised the open discussion for the third consecutive year on students thoughts on national budget.
The seminar was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University Abdur Rab. He observed that education at the tertiary level was not emphasized in the present budget. More than 200 students, teachers and officials attended the programme.
