Magura: A man was killed and 10 others injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League in Digha union of Mohammadpur upazila on Thursday night over establishing supremacy, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Akbar Hossain, 65, a resident of the union. Sudharshan Kumar Roy, assistant superintendent of police, Magura, said there had been a long standing dispute between former union parishad chairman Asaduzzaman and present UP member Zafor Ali. Over the issue, the supporters of two groups locked into a clash after iftar. A chase and counter chase took place. The attackers also vandalised and looted 20 houses. Akbar received injuries in the clash.
Later he was rushed to the upazila health complex where he succumbed to his injuries. On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Police claimed that Akbar died from heart attack during the clash.
