Bangladesh pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman will leave Dhaka for Satkhira to celebrate Eid with family members today after ending his two-week-long rehabilitation programme.
He will stay at his village Tatulia for 10 more days before flying to London, where he will play the last four matches of the NatWest T20 Blast for Sussex though they took Nuwan Kulasekara for three matches after seeing the uncertainty of Mustafiz.
Mustafiz’s cousin Tanveer Ahmed ensured the matter and said that he will go to Satkhira on July 2 and took some days rest before going to England.
There was an uncertainty of his playing county cricket for Sussex while he returned home from IPL with hamstring injury. Thereafter, the medical team of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) examined him and set a two-week-long rehab programme for his recovery.
Now he is free from injury scare. Mustafiz did his gym and bowling practice at National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday.
“It will be better for me if I can play county cricket in England. If I get chance to play I will try to give my best,” said Mustafizur Rahman after his practice session.
About his current injury status, Mustafiz said, “The way I expected to bowl at net I could do it. Everything is going well.”
If everything goes in right shape Mustafiz will then fly for London to make his county debut against Hampshire at Hove on July 15.
This will be Mustafiz’s second tour to England after 2014. Earlier, he toured England with Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team. But the left-arm pacer fell on injury after playing just one match at English condition.
This year the 20-year-old pacer made his debut in IPL, where he played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and grabbed 17 wickets from 16-match road string. Hyderabad lifted their maiden IPL trophy.
One week ago, Sussex coach Mark Davis expressed his optimism that they are expected Bangladesh star Mustafiz will make his debut against Hampshire on July 15. Since then, BCB director Jalal Younus cleared the doubt, stating that Mustafiz is free from injury and soon flies for county debut.
