Mitu murder

The police early yesterday (Friday) arrested two more persons in connection with the murder of Mahamuda Khanam Mitu, wife of SP Babul Akter. One of them was Saidul, alias Sakur, elder brother of prime suspect Kamrul Sikder, alias Musa. He allegedly supplied the motorcycle used to commit the crime. The other was Shahjan, who was there to help the killers escape after the murder. They were arrested from Rangunia upzila of Chittagong. Md Kamruzzaman, asistant commissioner of CMP (DB), who is also the investigating officer of the case, said: “Two more were arrested in the Mahamuda Khanam Mitu murder case, one of them being the motorcycle supplier Saidul, from Rangunia upazila.” The motorcycle was found in the city’s Boro garage area June 6. Last Saturday, the police arrested Wasim and Anwar. They made confessional statements before the court under Section 164 that they were hired by Musa to kill Mitu. They said Musa, Nabi, Kalu, Shahjan and Rashed also took part in the crime. Ehteshamul Haque, alias Haniful Haque, alias Bola, suspected arms supplier, was arrested on Monday night. According to the police, Musa is the mastermind behind the murder and is on the run. However, Musa’s wife alleged that he was picked up by the police from a relative's house in the city’s Bandar area on June 22.
