A man, who reportedly worked as a muezzin at a local mosque and drove motorbikes on rent, was hacked to death by unknown assailants yesterday. The deceased, Mohsin Hawlader, 30, hailed from Dariapur village of Nabagram union of the district. Jhalakati Police OC Mohammad Mahe Alam told reporters that Mohsin went missing on Thursday night after keeping his motorbike at one Alamgir master’s house in the village. He did not return home that night and yesterday morning, locals found his body beside a ditch near his house, the OC said. There were seven injuries from sharp weapons in different parts of his head and body and he was hacked to death, added the police officer. Police recovered his body and sent to Jhalakati Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
