A man was allegedly killed during an altercation with a shopkeeper while shopping over a trifling matter at Anupom Super Market in Joydebpur Chowrasta under Gazipur city on Thursday night. The victim was identified as Abdul Malek, 45, son of late Korom Ali of Kellakushi Mela village under Sherpur upazila in Bogra district. Witnesses said, Abdul Malek, a vegetable trader of Konabari area went to Anupom Super Market at Joydebpur Chowrasta for shopping on Thursday. He went to Suchona cosmetic shop of the market and paid a note of Tk 1000 after buying some cosmetics items. But the shopkeeper denied about the payment. At one stage, they locked into an altercation over the issue and employees of the shop hit him and pushed on floor of the market. As a result Malek lost his consciousness. Locals sent him to Gazipur Shahid Taz Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared him dead. The owner of the shop and employees fled from the spot after the incident. While contacted with the owner of the shop Billal Hossain over mobile phone said, Malek died of heart attack when he was buying at my shop. We did not attack him.
