Jhenidah police yesterday rescued a kidnapped boy after 72 hours of his abduction from Kotchandpur upazila in Jhenidah.
Sensing the arrival of police, the kidnappers managed to flee. The victim is identified as Tariqul Islam, 27, of Kashimpur village in sadar upazila. Victim’s father Gohor Ali, said Tariqul was abducted on Sunday night from in front of his house. Later, the abductors demanded Tk five lakh as ransom from him over mobile phone.
Officer in-charge of sadar police station Biplab Kumar Nath said victim’s father filed a case on Monday with the police station and they rescued him today from an abandoned house in Kotchandpur municipality area.
