16,000 tonnes VGF rice being distributed in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH: The Government is being distributed 16,000 tonnes rice under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) assistance among the listed distressed and ultra poor on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr in the district, reports BSS.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Office (DRRO) sources said Disaster Management division of the Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management sanctioned 16 thousand tonnes of rice under the programme in all 13 upazilas of the district. The sources said sanctioned rice is being distributed among the eight lakh listed card holders. Earlier, union parisads made a list of card holders those who are receiving 20 kgs of rice under this programme. DRRO Muhammad Hossen told the news agency that distribution of rice has already began in the upazila under the supervision of the concerned officers to ensure fare distribution. The distribution among the card holders, 40,034 in Dobauraq upazila, 61,021 in Fulpur, 59,948 in Tarakanda, 67,967 in Ishwaargonj, 57,606 in Gouripur, 71,361 in Nandail, 78,773 in Phulbaria, 50,896 in Haluaghat, 70,880 in Muktagacha, 69,043 in Trishal, 67,960 in Gafargeon, 64,644 in Bhaluka, and 47,505 cards in sadar upazila of the district.
