3 injured by robbers

Three persons were injured by robbers in Bhuiyan Bazaar area in Bauphal upazila early yesterday. Azam Khan Faruki, officer-in-charge of Bauphal police station, said a gang of robbers, numbering 10 to 12 equipped with sharp weapons and wearing mask swooped on the house of one Awlad Sikder by breaking open the door. At one stage the gang stabbed Awlad’s wife Hosneara Begum, 60, his son Liton Sikder, 45, and daughter-in-law Shathi Begum, 35, with sharp weapon. The gang, however, later fled away when the villagers gave them a hot chase. The injured people were first taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, later they were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
