Stock rally continues for second day

DSE, CSE go for nine-day holiday

Rally at the stock market continued yesterday for the second session of the week when the major indicators of Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges advanced further on active buying, reports BSS.
DSEX, the broader index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), gained 38.53 points to reach at 4451.36, with the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES indices following it to finish the session at 1740.14 and 1095.52 respectively.
Similarly, the general CASPI index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended the day 139.38 points up at 13651.84.
Analysts attributed the rising trend to the higher activities around large-cap stocks with strong fundamentals.
The vibe in the large-cap also drove their prices up at close. Out of the traded 320 issues of at DSE, 200 gained against 72 declining issues. Among the gainers, 168 were from large-cap group. At CSE, 153 issues advanced against 50 losing scrips.
Besides the large-cap group, mutual funds were traded actively, taking prices of 13 funds up. Junk shares also advanced on speculative trading, with 20 securities of this category rising among 32 traded ones.
The daily trade value rose to Tk 388.69 and the volume increased to 11.62 crore shares from Monday’s Tk 352.11 crore for 9.36 crore shares.
CSE also so rising trend in daily transaction, with over 77 lakh shares changed hands for Tk 19.28 crore testerday.
Among the day’s top gaining issues were Gemini Sea Food, BD Thai, Eastern Lubricant, Aramit Cement and Islami Bank. The major losers were Central Insurance, Samata Leather, Regent textile, Agni System and Kay & Que.
Like previous session, Acme Lab topped the turnover leaders followed by Keya Cosmetic, Islami Bank, GP and Squire Pharma.
Also, like the government offices, the stock market of the country will also go for an extended nine-day holiday from July 1 to celebrate Eid-ul Fitr.
The three-day official holiday will be nine-day one for the stock exchanges with two weekends and additional off for a day on July 4.
There will be no share trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) during July 1 to 9 when the offices of the two bourses will also remain closed.
Share transactions and the official activities of DSE and CSE will resume on July 10.
