Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has selected Finland’s Anite Finland Limited to ensure technological service with quality of service measurement tools with scanner.
BTRC has installed quality of service measures to maintain quality of mobile and WiMAX service providers.
BTRC Director General (E&O), Brig Gen Iqbal Ahmed thinks ensuring quality service would be possible through the tool. BTRC would make progress in quality ensuring as it would be able to measure service quality, he said.
Declaring Anite Finland Limited winner in the bidding, BTRC in a letter said: “This is to notify you that your Tender dated 8 May 2016 for the supply of Goods and related Services for Supply, Installation and Commissioning of a backpack/ hand held/portable and fixed based QoS measurement tools with Scanner for Voice, Data & Video Services of 2G, 3G, 4G, LTE, CDMA, WiMax for the Contract Price of USD 2,92,500 (Two Lac Ninety Two Thousand Five Hundred US Dollar only) as corrected and modified in accordance with the Instructions to Tenderers, has been approved by BTRC.” Earlier, the Posts and Telecommunications Division had asked the telecom regulator to monitor call drops and directed it to ensure compensation for the users. At that time Tarana Halim said the BTRC has already started setting up machinery to monitor call drops and ensure the quality of services.
Earlier, the BTRC said the telecom regulator would settle the issue of compensation for calls drops as soon as possible.
Expressing dissatisfaction, Tarana Halim said on May 15 that telecom operators would have to pay compensation of Tk1 for each call drop.
The day before that, the state minister had said subscribers should not suffer under any circumstances.
