BAU approves Tk 251.94cr budget
MYMENSINGH: The syndicate of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh on Sunday approved a budget of Tk 251.94 crore for the fiscal year of 2016-17.
The syndicate in its 309th meeting, chaired by BAU Vice-Chancellor Md Ali Akbar, passed the budget recommended by the finance committee of the university which is Tk 81.89 crore greater than the previous fiscal year, said a press release.
According to the budget, the university will earn Tk 8.70 crore from its own sources for the fiscal year 2016-17 while the rest will be provided from the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Of the total, Tk 13.22 crore was allocated for education sector where the lions’ share was allocated for salary and pension of the university teachers and staffs.

RUET admission test Oct 26
RAJSHAHI: Admission test for the first year honours courses in 2016-17 academic session of Rajshahi University of Engineering and
Technology (RUET) will be held on October 26, a RUET press release said yesterday. RUET authority took the decision in an emergency meeting with different faculty deans and department chairmen with Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam Beg in the chair.
Detailed information relating to the entry test will be published in various newspapers and will also be available on www.ruet.ac.bd , the release added.
Faculty Deans Prof Nirendra Nath Mustafi, Prof Rafiqul Islam Sheikh and Prof Mazedur Rahman, Director of Institute of Information and
Computer Science Prof Md Shahiduzzaman and Registrar-in-Charge Prof Mosharraf Hossain were present at the meeting, aong others.

CU admission tests from Oct 23
CHITTAGONG: The first-year honours admission tests for 2016-17 academic session of Chittagong University (CU) will begin from October 23.
The decision was taken at a deans' committee meeting held recently with CU Vice Chancellor Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury in the chair, said SM Akbar Hossain, a member of CU Admissions Committee.
Schedules of the admission tests and registration procedures will soon be available on the university website: www.cu.ac.bd

DU Arts Faculty gets acting dean  
Professor Begum Aktar Kamal, chairperson of Dhaka University Bangla Department, on Monday took the charge of acting dean of Arts Faculty at the university.
The post fell vacant as the previous dean Professor Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman took office of pro-vice chancellor on Tuesday last (June 23), a DU release said.
As per the Dhaka University Order, 1973, Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique gave Prof Kamal the charge of acting dean for not more than 90 days from June 23 or until new elected dean will join office.
