JU suspends three BCL men

The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have suspended 3 leaders and activists of Pro-Awami League Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of JU unit temporarily over beating a journalist.
The suspension order came from an emergency syndicate meeting held on Monday, chaired by VC Prof Farzana Islam.
The suspended BCL men are religious secretary of JU BCL, Mohitosh Roy Tito, a Master’s student of History department, Akramuddin Ami, final year student of marketing department, Ikram Nahid, 3rd year student of Statistics department. The are the resident of Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall.
The syndicate also formed a 5-member inquiry committee to investigate the incident headed by Prof Hafizur Rahman. The committee has asked to submit report in public within 15 working days.
Prof Farzana Islam said “We have temporarily suspended these BCL men for allegedly involvement on the incident”. We will take next step after getting final report of the inquiry committee, she added.
Mentionable that, Shafiqul Islam, JU reporter of bdnews24.com was beaten up at the university on June 8 night led by BCL leader Mohitosh Roy Tito with 10 to 15 followers as he protested the harassment of a couple out of campus. Being critically injured he was taken to Enam Medical College. Shafiqul is also joint-secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BSU) of JU standing committee.
