Eastern University Foundation gets new chairman 
 Abul Khair Chowdhury, founding member of the Eastern University Foundation and Assistant Governor of Rotary International Bangladesh, has been elected the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Eastern University for 2015-16. 
He was elected in the 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Eastern University Foundation recently, says a press release.
The meeting was chaired by Mohammad Enayet Ullah, the outgoing chairman. Rezakul Haider, Nuruddin Dewan & Md Azizul Islam were elected as the vice-chairmen and Kh Mesbah Uddin Ahmed was elected as the treasurer. 
All members of the board congratulated the new chairman and others on taking over the charge. Among others, VC, Pro VC, Registrar were present at the meeting.


Seminar on manufacturing sector in Bangladesh 
The Centre for Business Policy Research at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a seminar on ‘Manufacturing Sector in Bangladesh: Opportunities and Challenges’ on IUB campus at Bashundhara in the capital yesterday, says a press release. 
Syed Nasim Manzur, president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was the key-note speaker of the seminar. In the seminar Manzur spoke on the manufacturing and service sector in Bangladesh. He also mentioned the historical evolution of manufacturing in Bangladesh. He encouraged the new generation to be innovative and challenging and also to be a part of this emerging industry. 
Sarwar Uddin Ahmed, dean, School of Business, IUB, delivered the welcome speech. Rashed Chowdhury, chairman of Board of Trustees, IUB, and M Omar Rahman, vice chancellor of IUB, also spoke on the occasion. 
The seminar was indeed with an interesting question-answer session. The members of the faculty and management and a good number of students participated in the seminar.


13th Course Project Fair held at DIU 
The 13th Course Project Fair (CPF) was held at Daffodil International University (DIU) in the capital on Monday, says a press release.
Emeritus Professor Dr Aminul Islam was present at the closing ceremony of the fair and distributed prizes among the winners. Presided over by Yousuf M Islam, professor of Software Engineering department, the function was addressed by Kaushik Sarkar, lecturer, Software Engineering department. Emeritus Professor Aminul Islam emphasized on the needs and benefits of the Course Project Fair. He said this type of semester wise Course Project Fair (CPF) provides an opportunity for in-course projects to be showcased in front of both the students and the teachers of the university.
