The 66th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League was observed in Rangpur city yesterday through various progammes.
Leaders and activists of Rangpur district unit of Awami League and its associate bodies chalked out elaborate programmes including hosting of the national and party flag at its office, placing wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The anniversary programme began by hosting the national and party flag at party office yesterday morning.
Later, leaders and activists of AL and its associated bodies paid homage at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. They brought out a procession in the city marking the day.
The speakers said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who
took the responsibilities of the party after her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman, is now running the country smoothly.
The speakers said some evil forces are still trying to destroy the country. They asked all the leaders and activists of Awami League to be united to resist these evil activities.
Momtaz-Uddin Ahmed, acting president of district Awami League, Advocate Rezaul Karim Razu, secretary of district Awami League. Motahar Hossain Mandol Maula, organising secretary, HM Rashedun-Nabi Jwel, convener of Juba League, Mehedi Hasan Siddiqui, president of Rangpur district Chhatra League, spoke on the occasion, among others.
