KURIGRAM: About 75,000 people of 200-char area in the district have been marooned by monsoon flood in Kurigram district due to onrush of flood water, reports BSS. Most of the low-lying char areas in six upazilas of
the district were inundated as the major rivers, including the Teesta, Brahmaputra and Dharala, continued to flow above their danger levels. Local people said onrush of water from the upstream have flooded over 200 chars in Brahmaputra basin creating untold sufferings of the people. Kurigram Sadar UNO M Aminul Islam said upazila administration have already taken necessary measures to face the overall flood
situation. The upazila administration is distributing 20-kg rice for each flood victim family.
