Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday said the government has formed a nine-member committee to amend guidelines for enlisting educational
institutions under Monthly Payment Order (MPO) facility, reports UNB.
He said this while responding to a tabled starred question from Mohammad Noman (Laxmipur-2) in Parliament.
The minister said the ministry will finalise the guidelines for MPO enlistment after receiving the proposals from the committee.
“After having the budget allocation, the government will consider MPO enlistment of educational institutions as per the necessity,” he said.
Nahid also said the MPO enlistment of private educational institutions is an ongoing process.
“The Awami League government in its previous tenure in 2010 enlisted 1624 private educational institution under MPO,” he said.
Responding to a written question from Pinu Khan (Women Seat-23), the minister mentioned that there are currently 26,084 private educational institutions in the country which are availing of the MPO facility.
